Registration to EAFS 2022 is Open

29. November 2021

The registration for participation in the 9th European Academy of Forensic Science Conference is now open. Registration is made by filling out a digital form on the EAFS 2022 Conference website. The Conference will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, from May 30th to June 3rd, 2022.

The EAFS Conference, being a European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) event, is the most encompassing and relevant European forensic conference, including a broad scope of forensic expert fields.

– The purpose of EAFS is to stimulate development of forensics in Europe by providing a common forum for sharing knowledge and experience says Christina Bertler Edlund, Chairperson of the EAFS 2022 Organising Committee and Senior Adviser of NFC, National Forensic Centre, Swedish Police Authority. NFC will host the Conference on behalf of the Swedish Police and ENFSI.

Approximately 800 – 1,000 European and international practitioners, researchers, managers and stakeholders of the forensic science community alongside EU agencies, academia, industrial partners and international organisations are expected to participate.

The conference venue is situated in the very heart of the Swedish capital which gives plenty of opportunities to explore the city and its surroundings. Among the social activities is a Welcome Reception at Stockholm City Hall, well-known for hosting the Nobel Prize Banquet every year, and the Conference Dinner, which will take place at the Vasa Museum. The participants will dine next to the Vasa ship, the world’s only preserved 17th century ship which is interred in the most visited museum in Scandinavia.

Submission of Abstracts and Workshop Proposals
The Conference will comprise topics such as Chemistry; DNA/Forensic Genetics; Digital Evidence; Forensic Medicine and Toxicology; Marks, Impressions and Biometric Traces; Scene of Crime; Forensic Management; Forensic Statistics; European Perspective; Legal and Ethical Aspects.

– There is still an opportunity to contribute to the Conference Program by submitting abstracts for oral presentations and posters or submitting proposal to facilitate a workshop, informs Christina Bertler Edlund. Deadline for workshop submission is December 10th and deadline for abstract submission is December 19th, so there is still some time yet to submit.

Together for a Safer World
As crime increases to expand across geographical boarders and technical development accelerates, the requisite of co-operation has become vital and valuable. EAFS 2022 has adopted “Together for a Safer World” as the Conference’s motto, to emphasize the importance of cooperation to meet future expectations and requirements on forensic operations. ENFSI’s contribution is a major component in accomplishing this.

– Sharing knowledge and information with each other is necessary to improve our forensic operations and prepare for the future. We are very much looking forward to welcome you all to an exciting and worthwhile conference in May 2022, Christina Bertler Edlund concludes.
