Summary of the European Clearing Board Plenary Meeting held on April 10th and 11th, 2024

22. April 2024

The European Clearing Board Plenary Meeting occurred on April 10 and 11, 2024. Below is an overview of the key events:

On April 10, 2024, a session was held between the EUCB governance board and various law enforcement networks (LEN). Alongside ENFSI, the meeting included representation from the following networks:
– CYCLOPS – European Network of Practitioners Fighting Cybercrime
– EACTDA – European Anti-Cybercrime Technology Development Association
– ENLETS – The European Network of Law Enforcement Technology Services
– EU-HYBNET – Empowering a Pan-European Network to Counter Hybrid Threats
– iProcureNet – European Network for Security Procurement

On April 11, 2024, all EU CB members convened with the participation of a representative from DG Home (Nicolas Bessot, Head of Unit Innovation and Security Research), as this event was aligned with the activities of the Belgian EU Council Presidency. During this session, the status updates of all Core Groups and Strategic Groups were presented, with the Belgian Federal Police conducting a case scenario showcasing new methods in cyber forensics/police technology.

During discussions, concerns were raised about potential overlaps between the activities of various core groups and the EWGs. The EUCB Governance Board stressed the importance of avoiding duplication and emphasized the need for close coordination, acknowledging the participation of an ENFSI representative.

Feedback obtained prior to the meeting from the “exposed” EWGs Digital Images WG and Forensic IT WG indicated smooth cooperation with related EU CB committees (core groups).

In personal conversations with members of the EUCB Governance Board, it was evident that, following a phase of growth and network formation within the EUCB, greater focus is now required on the work outcomes of the core groups.
